The 23 Navagraha Mantras to Improve Your Health

Our ancestors believed that astrology and the movement of heavenly bodies in our solar system, can influence and affect our personal, emotional, financial and physical lives.

According to Indian (or Vedic) Astrology, the nine planets of our solar system, called Navagrahas, can be used as powerful healing tools by using Navagraha-hymns or mantras, to teach us how to live harmoniously with the planets and their energies. Each of the nine planets can play a positive or challenging role in one’s life, based on its position in their birth chart or horoscope. By using these hymns, we can learn to invite the blessings of the planets to us, or help us re-direct their unwanted energy, living in peace and learning to attain our own happiness.

1. Surya Mantra (The Sun)

Surya, or the Light of Wisdom, is the sun and the source of all life and energy. Surya symbolizes confidence, wisdom, power and a person’s sense of identity.

Namaha suryaya shaanthaya sarvaroga nivaarine, Aayur aarogya myswaryay dehi devaha jagathpathe ||

The meaning of the above shloka is “Lord Surya, the ruler of the whole universe, you have the special power to eradicate all the diseases and give peace to all creatures. I am praying you to bless me with good health, long life, and prosperity.”

2. Aadithya Hrudayam Mantra

Aadithya hrudaya punyam sarva shathru vinashanam, Jayavaham japenithyam akshayam param shivam ||

This mantra is to thank the Surya Dev that is the sun god. By reciting this mantra all your enemies will destroy, gets fearlessness and knowledge. Surya Dev eliminates greed, betrayal, anger, and other negative energy in a person’s mind.

3. “Om Bhaskaraya Vidmahe Divakaraya Dheemahe, Thanno Surya prachodayath”. ||

The other names for Surya Dev are Bhaskara, Divakara, and so on. Let me pray to Surya Dev the maker of the new day blesses me with higher intelligence. Surya Dev illuminates the mind from the brighter side.

4. Surya Gayathri Mantra

Om Aadithyaaya vidmahe Maarthandaya dheemahi, Thanno Surya prachodayath||

This Gayathri Manthra is related to the Surya dev called Aadithya and it should be chanted daily. Chanting this mantra on routine improves health and gives glowing skin. It helps in reducing Graha dosha means problems from other planets.

5. Chandra Dev (The Moon)

Chandra, known as the Light of Devotion, is said to nurture life with its cool, soothing rays. Chandra influences creativity, birth cycles, the tides of the oceans and nurtures plants and herbs.

 6. Chandra Dhyana Mantra

“Shwethambharah Shwethavibushanascha Shwethadhuyatir Dandadharo Dvibahuchandro mrutatma Varadhah Kireeti Mayi Prasadam Vidhatu devah.”||

In this mantra, they are explaining the beauty of Chandra Dev. The color complexion of Chandra Dev is white he wears white color cloth and jewels. Chandra Dev represents the peace we all are praying Chandra Dev to illumine the intelligence and breathe of confidence in the heart.

7. Chandra Gayathri Mantra

“ Om Padmadwajaya Vidhmahe Hema roopaya, Dheemahe Thanno Chandra Prachodayath”. ||

Lord Chandra has the flag of Lotus and shines in the brilliant color of gold. I pray to Lord Chandra to shine my intelligence and show the path toward brightness.

According to Hindu Mythology chanting Chandra regularly helps in leading a happy and prosperous life. 9. Mangala (Mars)

Managala, the Bearer of Welfare, rules determination and will power, including exploration and protection. It plays a role in the immune system as its defender.

Dharani Garbhasambhutam Vidyutkaanti Samaprabham, Kumaram Shaktihastma Cha tam Mangalam Pranamaamyaham|| Om Mangalaya Namaha

Mangala means Mars, it is believed that he is the son of Goddess Bhoomi and Lord Varaha Swami (Avathar of Lord Vishnu). The other name for Mangala is Angaraka means emitting radiance like the color red. He is the symbol of energy and the war of god. I am praying the god to bless energy, courage, action, patience, and self-confidence. It is more powerful to chant this mantra is Tuesday.

10. The Mangal Beej Mantra

Om Kraam Kreem Kraum Sahah Bhaumaay Namah

I pray to Mangal Dev who is the father of Bhuma bless me with all kinds of happiness.

11. Budha (Mercury)

Budha, the Emblem of Intelligence, represents intelligence, ambiguity and the transcendence of material objects.

Priyangukalikashyaamam roopenaa-pratimam budham Saumyam Saumyamgunopetam budham        pranamaamyahma om budhaaya namah||

The body of Budha is dark and the emblem of intelligence and whose qualities are most beautiful, I bow my head to bless me with intelligence.

12. Budha Dhyana mantra

Pitambarah Pitavapuh Kiriti chaturbhujo dandadharashch haaree, Charmasidhrk Somasuto Dhanushman Singhadhirudho Varado Budhsch||

Chanting Budha Dhyana mantra heals health problems, loss of speech and memory, and breathing problems. It also helps in curing psychological diseases and gastric issues. Lord Budha has 4 four hands and wears yellow color clothes like Lord Vishnu. I pray Budha Dev to bless me with good health and prosperity.

13. Shukra (Venus)

Shukra, the Emblem of Love, represents wealth, marriage, pleasure and beauty in art. This planet teaches us to become more conscious of our senses.

Om Aswadhwajaaya vidmahae Dhanur Hastaaya Dheemahi Tanno Shukra Prachodayaat||

I am praying to the god, who has the flag of a white Horse and holds a bow and arrow requesting to bless me with better intelligence and light up my mind.

14. Om rajadabhaya vidhmahe bhrigusutaaya dheemahi tanno shukraha prachodayat.

I am praying to the Lord Shukra, who is the son of Bhrigu. Shower your blessings to enlighten and illuminate my existence.

15. The Shukra Beej mantra

Om Draam Dreem Draum Sah Shukraya Namah||

I am praying to the Lord Shukra to enlighten my mind on the right path.

Shukra means Venus, and chanting above mantras eliminates negative qualities. It also helps in healing problems in reproductive and renal disorders. The best day to chant these mantras is Friday for good results.

16. Shani (Saturn)

Shani, the Lord of Discipline and Control, who’s blessings offer us persistence and patience in our daily lives, allowing room for spiritual growth.

Nilanjana samabhasam raviputram yamagrajam, Chaya martanda sambhutam tam namami shaishcharam||

I am praying to the Shani Dev, who is the son of Surya Dev and Chaya Devi. He has the appearance of a blue sky. Bless us from the bad eye and negative energy.

17. Shani Gayathri Mantra

Om kaakadhwajaaya vidmahae khadga hastaaya dheemahi tanno mandah prachodayaat

I am praying to the Shani Dev, who has the flag of Crow and sword in his hand to enlighten my thoughts.

18. The Shani Beej mantra

 “Om praam preem praum sah shanayishraya namah.” I pray to Lord Shani, please be kind to me and soothe my nerves.’

It is believed that Shani is the son of Surya Dev and Chaaya Devi. He is the god of Order and Responsibility. He gives more prominence to Honesty. Shani means Saturn and it is considered as the most powerful planet among the nine. Shani Deva also punishes according to your Karma. The best day to chant this mantra is on Saturday 108 times for good results.

19. Rahu (The North Node of the Moon)

Raahu, is the Commander of Direction, and is the eclipse that we see that covers the Moon. It is a shadow entity, that manifests our material pleasures and desires, including greed, manipulation and obsessions.

21. Rahu beej Mantra

Om Bhraam Bhreem Bhraum Saanha Raahve Namah ||
